- Nowruz
- 1 Farvardin, the first day of the Persian year, which begins at the spring equinox.
- Chaharshanbe Suri
- The eve of the last Wednesday of the Persian year. The fires are lit on the Tuesday evening, so that is the day counted here.
- Sizdah Bedar
- 13 Farvardin, the thirteenth day of the new year.
- Yalda night
- The night that ends the last day of Azar and opens 1 Dey. The date shown is the evening, which is the half people mean.
- Chinese New Year
- The published boundary of the Chinese year.
The Persian dates are computed from the equinox-anchored year this site already publishes, never from a table of fixed Gregorian days.
The Chaharshanbe Suri rule is a widely stated convention rather than an astronomical fact. The Wednesday itself is computed from the year's own last day.
Chinese New Year comes from the Hong Kong Observatory boundary data for 1901 to 2100 — the same dataset the zodiac pages use.
Occasions on the lunar Islamic calendar are deliberately absent. Their dates depend on an authority this site does not have, and a guess would be worse than an honest gap.
Counting to a birthday? The birthday profile reads a birth date in both calendars.
